NAYA Action Fund Announces New Executive Director

William Miller to lead NAYA Action Fund, 501c4 non-profit organization

PORTLAND, OR. —On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the NAYA Action Fund Board of Directors voted to appoint a new Executive Director, William Miller (Blackfeet and Cherokee). Miller has been involved with advocacy, policy, and systems change from a young age and has more than 10+ years of experience that he brings to the organization. He has an extensive background in outreach, engagement, policy, advocacy, and candidate campaigns. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a focus in Law and Politics from Oregon State University and believes our communities must work together to be bold, progressive, and make positive change to impact generations to come.

Miller will serve as the second Executive Director of the NAYA Action Fund, succeeding Paul Lumley, Citizen of the Yakama Nation. Lumley will remain involved as the Native American Youth and Family Center Chief Executive Officer and will work in close alignment with the NAYA Action Fund. Over the past two years, the NAYA Action Fund has been building internal and external systems, allowing for the opportunity to endorse candidates and build electoral power throughout Oregon and Washington.

Miller stated, “having the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of the NAYA Action Fund is such an honor. I am thrilled to serve our community on this important effort. My professional background and lived experience will aid in the success of the organization moving forward. I thank the Board of Directors, staff, and community for trusting me to take the organization to the next level.”
